The Ovi Store has opened to an estimated 50 million Nokia device owners.
Accessible from over more than 50 Nokia devices, the store houses a range of free and paid downloadable applications including games, videos and podcasts.
"You can buy stuff, upload many different things, and best of all, you can see what your friends have uploaded and where they uploaded them from," explained Tero Ojanperä, Nokia Service's executive VP, at March's GDC event.
Officially registered publishers can determine prices for their products and will receive a 70 percent share of sales.
The mobile client is currently available in English, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish, and supports operator billing in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Credit card billing is available globally through the mobile application and the mobile website.
The Ovi Store will be made available in the US later this year by AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.
In order to access the store customers will need to update their Nokia devices with the Ovi Store mobile application by selecting the Ovi Store icon in the Download! folder.
"Ovi Store is open for business and we've stocked the shelves with both local and global content for a broad range of Nokia devices," said Ojanperä. "Ovi Store makes shopping for content and applications easy and fun for feature phone and smartphone owners alike."
