NPD: Mario Bros. Wii Tops Mass Effect 2

Wii and Xbox 360 games dominate as January software sales decline 12 per cent year-on-year in the US.

Wii and Xbox 360 games dominated January software sales in the US, according to data from the NPD Group.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii was the top seller for the second month running, beating off competition from Mass Effect 2.

Wii Fit Plus was down one spot to third, followed by Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox 360 and Mario Kart Wii.

The only non-Wii or Xbox 360 title to make the top ten was the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 in seventh place.
