Activision titles again took seven of the top 20 positions on the NPD Group’s monthly PC chart, while EA games scooped five.

The former’s World Of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King was the bestseller during May, while the latter’s The Sims 2 Double Deluxe held second place.

In fact, only two non-Activision Blizzard/EA titles made the top ten, with Sega’s Empire: Total War and Interplay’s Fallout Trilogy charting in fifth and ninth respectively.

Expect The Sims 3 to enter near the top of June’s rankings.

1. World Of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (Activision Blizzard)
2. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe (Electronic Arts)
3. World Of Warcraft: Battle Chest (Activision Blizzard)

where are all your high end pc games dreamhunk.nowhere PC GAMING IS GONE

NDP is a junk company, they don`t do a good job of finding pc gaming numbers. NDP is not credible when comes to gaming. I would be suprise if they get paid under the table by microsft and sony. I will not be suprised if more publishers and game devs go bankuprt because them too.

retail is on it`s death bed, it`s only a matter of time before it falls apart.

These are some junk games, Dreamhunk.

If NDP...or NPD in real life isn't credible, than how could they send Dev's into bankruptcy. If retail is on its "Death-Bed," than these numbers are credible. You can't have it both ways. You're just making things up now to support your theory.

By the way, the NPD Group is the Number 1 data tracking marketer. They don't need to be paid by Microsoft & Sony to fudge numbers; they make plenty of money. Their clients run the gamut from Nestle to Exxon to G.E. They privately release a client's numbers, as honestly as possible; so the company may track changes that need to be made.

It would be useless for Sony & Microsoft to "bribe" them. A publisher would have their own numbers provided in private honestly. That would tell them what to support. MS/SONY would have no way to know whether their "bribe" was effective. Their partners would never release these numbers to them.

man, Dawn of War sells less than Starcraft, that's pathetic

mentor07825's picture

I don't think so. Starcraft is a very famous RTS that has built a name for itself. Not a lot of people were impressed with the new direction Dawn of War II was going.

I suppose without buying the previous DoW games Starcraft filled that void better. Not only that but in some countries, such as Korea, it's played as a major tournament game.

Especially 40k fans, focussing on one squad has totally lost the sense of full scale battles, it's like a souped up version of Canon Fodder now, rather than the butal full scale battle of the original.

AndyLC's picture

I'd say DoW2 does a better job capturing the feel of the tabletop, a big part because their art direction has greatly improved over DoW1 (which was just downright ugly at parts)

and capturing the scale of the units, the strength of a single space marine vs tyranid swarms n' ork mobs.

DoW2 is also made with 3v3 in mind, so when all 6 players clash the scale is quite large.

eh, I'd just like for GW to succeed in some way against Blizzard, but that's pretty impossible at this point.

Graphically I agree with you. I've not played the multiplayer , maybe I should, but the 40k experience I'm looking for is more present in the first game for me. Stuff one squad, I want a 5000 point army, or to be stuck on the front line of one..

Yeah, but everyone's gone through three disc sets of it by now.

Three?! This is new to me. What's the third one about?

From losing and scratching all their old copies. :P

It is nice to see it up there, isn't it? I think it's well deserved.
