Nintendo’s Wii MotionPlus peripheral sold 169,000 standalone units in the US during June.

MotionPlus launched on June 8 for $19.99. It was also made available for a limited time as part of a Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 bundle, which released on June 15 for $59.99.

The peripheral’s opening month sales figure doesn’t include units bundled with the EA Sports title.

“More consumers continued to gravitate toward products that offer quality experiences and great value for the whole family,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing.

Overall, monthly sales of gaming accessories were down 22 per cent on last June’s total to $158.2 million.

"Of the various accessory types, Video Game Point and Subscription cards realised an increase of 67 per cent in dollar sales in June '09 as compared to last year," noted NPD analyst Anita Frazier.

Year-to-date accessory sales are tracking eight per cent behind 2008 figures.
