OnLive hosting IGF demos

Cloud gaming service OnLive has partnered with the Independent Games Festival (IGF) to offer 30-minute demos of a selection of games shortlisted for the annual awards ceremony.

Sixteen games are playable until March 11 through the OnLive App or the company's Facebook page. Among those included is Dear Esther, which has been nominated for four IGF awards including the $30,000 Seamus McNally Grand Prize.

Also available are the likes of Frozen Synapse, Spacechem, To The Moon, and Botanicula. After playing them, users can 'like' the games on Facebook, and OnLive will tot up the votes and announce the results on March 12. From March 5, OnLive will offer a 75 per cent discount on a selection of games previously recognised by the IGF.

This year's IGF runs alongside the Game Developers Conference, taking place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from March 5 to 9. Andy Schatz, developer of former IGF Grand Prize winner Monaco, will host the awards for a fourth consecutive year.
