Apologies for the late appearence of Out There today - we got lost in the annals of the internet.
First up is this video, produced to promote Starfox 64's original release, which shows just how far Nintendo’s advertising has come. Instead of photogenic families playing Wii Sports in the whitest living rooms in the world, we have evil representatives of Sony and Sega torturing a Mario doll with a car battery, in order to extract information about Nintendo’s mysterious new “Rumble Pak” accessory.
Of Course I’ll Play It is the personal blog of RPG fanatic, indie developer and former Halo Wars and Age Of Empires senior programmer Dusty Monk - and combines both a fan’s passion and developer’s insight in its commentary. Friday’s update - which looks at the impact World Of Warcraft’s success has had upon the early levels and zones that made it so successful, is a recent highlight.
Here’s a fightstick with no stick - Mortal Kombat’s direction-based inputs apparently making it more conducive to an extra smattering of buttons on its custom controllers. Looking at the videos, it’s hard to disagree.
It was never going to be long between Minecraft 1.8's reinvention of bows and some classic lightgun games being reimagined, but Duck Hunt turning up in two days is still pretty impressive.
Lastly, Freddie Wong has imagined the average gamer’s walk to work. We tend to use blue shells when stuck behind traffic.
