Phantasy Star Universe Takes Top Spot in Japan

Sega’s Phantasy Star Universe for PSP notched up 342,000 sales to comfortably outpace its nearest rival during the week ended August 3 – Rhythm Heaven Gold for DS was a fellow new entry at No2 with 213,000 sales.

Square Enix’s Dragon Quest V dropped from first to third, but edged closer to the million units sold mark after moving another 112,000 copies.

Namco Bandai’s Soul Calibur IV was new in fourth and sixth, the PS3 version of the title selling 75,000 units compared to 35,000 for the Xbox 360 edition.

Konami’s Powerful Pro Baseball 15 dropped three places to No5, while Fatal Frame IV for Wii was new at No7.

Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii and Gundam Battle Universe rounded off the top ten, closely followed by Wario Land: Shake It! and Siren: New Translation, both of which slipped out of the top ten after just one week.
