Eidos' parent company SCi brought the axe down on the UK studio as part of its wider restructuring program, a company spokesperson told Edge-Online, confirming an earlier Develop report.

“SCi Entertainment Group announced on 29 February its plans to re-structure its business and to focus on cornerstone studios and core franchises.

"As part of this process Eidos confirms that, despite reviewing a number of alternative options, we are closing Pivotal Games – but we will be keeping a team of 10-12 specialists in Bath, who will work on specific projects for group.”

Pivotal, which is located between Bristol and Bath in England’s south west, has developed six war games in the past six years: Conflict Desert Storm I and II, Conflict: Vietnam, Conflict: Global Storm, Conflict: Denied Ops (pictured) and The Great Escape.
