Pop Cap: Social Gamers Younger In UK

Casual gaming company releases research findings on US and UK players

Pop Cap Games has unveiled the findings of its 2010 Social Gaming Research report looking into UK and US gamers.

The research confirmed the perception that most social gamers are women, who occupy 54% of the total in the US and 58% in the UK.

Social gaming seems to be more popular among a younger audience in the UK, with 9% of social players under the age of 21 and 22% aged between 22 and 29, compared to only 4% and 11% in the US respectively. 46% of US social gamers are at least 50 years-old, compared to only 23% in the UK. The average age of social gamers is 48 in the US and 38 in the UK.

Most social gamers (69%) are unsurprisingly also fans of other genres, including casual and hardcore titles, while 49% of social gamers in both territories play on PCs.
