Prince Of Persia Becomes Highest Grossing Game Movie
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has become the highest grossing game-to-movie adaptation of all time.
Worldwide box office revenues for the film currently stand at $293.9 million, topping the $274.7 million taken by previous record holder Lara Croft Tomb Raider, according to Box Office Mojo (via Big Download).
The film was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Mike Newell, with Jake Gyllenhaal starring in the lead role.
Its release wasn’t directly supported by a game tie-in, but publisher Ubisoft did launch a new title in the franchise – which marked a return to the Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time storyline – shortly before the film’s release.
