Profit And Sales Down At Square Enix

Square Enix has reported a decline in revenues and profit for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009.

The company’s annual sales were down eight percent to 135.7 billion yen ($1.45b/£909.5m), while net income fell 31.1 percent to 6.3 billion yen ($66.9m/£42.2m).

However, the company, which recently acquired Tomb Raider house Eidos for £84 million, is expecting sales and profit to rebound in the current fiscal year, ending March 31, 2010.

It forecast sales to rise by a third to 180 billion yen ($1.91b/£1.2b), and net income to jump 137 percent to 15 billion yen ($159.3m/£100.5m).
