Prototype’s US launch has been somewhat marred today by an installation issue with the PlayStation 3 version of the game.
“It has come to our attention that a small number of PS3 Prototype owners have been having issues with installing the game,” said publisher Activision.
The company added that it’s set to release a patch “shortly” via the PlayStation Network that will fix the issue for gamers that are hooked up to the internet. In the meantime it has offered a rather clumsy workaround.
“If your PS3 tells you that you have insufficient hard drive space to install, even if you do, you are going to need to change the available space on your hard drive by 700 MB. This can be done in a number of ways including the following:
- Installing or uninstalling another PS3 game that allows hard drive installation
- Downloading game demos
- Removing downloadable content
- Adding / removing MP3's or movies from the hard drive"
After completing the process Activision says Prototype “should” install. “The goal of this is to change the available space on the hard drive. You may need to try a combination of any of the above suggestions.
“We take this issue very seriously and are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” the company added.
The Radical Entertainment developed action game released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in the US today, and launches in the UK on Friday. You can check out a recent preview of the title here.
