The latest Gundam game from Namco Bandai, Kidou Senshi Gundam Senki: Lost War Chronicles for PS3, debuted atop the Japanese software chart during the week ended September 6.
The title sold 178 000 copies in its opening week, having launched on September 3 as a standalone game and as part of a PS3 Slim bundle. Sony’s new console, which released on the same day, is believed to have sold over 150,000 units during the week.
The previous week’s bestselling game, Nintendo’s Tomodachi Collection for DS, dropped a spot to second, according to sales tracker Media Create (via el33tonline). The title has now sold just shy of one million copies.
Square Enix’s Dragon Quest IX also slipped one place to third, ahead of a new entry from Konami, Love Plus for DS, and Wii Sports Resort.
Capcom’s Monster Hunter 3 took sixth on the chart, while Level 5’s Sloan And MacHale’s Mysterious Story 2 debuted at number seven.
Nintendo’s You’ll Incur Losses If You Remain Ignorant and Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2 were non-movers at eight and nine respectively, while 428: Fuusa Sareta Shibya de for PS3 entered at number ten.
