PS3 hacker expects jail sentence

While the bulk of media attention was focused on George “Geohot” Hotz, who settled out of court with Sony in March, Alexander “Graf Chokolo” Egorenkov admits he is now facing jail time after running out of money to fund his fight against Sony. Egorenkov has focused on restoring Linux to the PlayStation 3, after Sony removed the feature in a firmware update, ironically to deter hackers. “No money left anymore,” he writes on his blog. “Going to jail soon probably because I cannot pay court costs. But I’m ready to stand up for everything I said and go to jail for that too. It’s not important to win, more important is to show them that we are ready to fight, that they cannot scare me off that easily. I’m ready to go to jail for my beliefs and my principles.”
