PSP, DS Lead Japanese Sales

Sonyís PSP-3000 was the bestselling individual system last week, while Nintendoís DS line topped overall sales.

PSP-3000 returned to the top of the Japanese hardware chart during the week ended April 11.

In a slow week for sales, Sony’s portable moved just shy of 30,000 units. It was closely followed by PS3, which dropped one spot to second with 29,000 units sold, 3,500 more than third placed Wii.

DS was again the bestselling platform in terms of combined unit sales, its three models racking up over 36,000 sales.

Xbox 360 and PSPgo were the only systems to record week-over-week sales increases. With over 3,000 sales, the former almost managed to climb out of the bottom three spots, while PSPgo overtook PS2.
