PSP Retains Japanese Sales Lead

SonyĆs handheld continues to top the weekly hardware chart as sales decline across most platforms.

While it continues to languish near the foot of the US hardware sales chart, PSP was again the weekly winner in Japan.

Sony’s handheld came out on top during the week ended February 7, achieving 43,163 sales.

Console positions on the chart were unchanged from the previous week, with Wii and DSi LL taking second and third respectively.

PS3 placed ahead of DSi, DS Lite, Xbox 360, PS2 and PSPgo, which continues to underwhelm at retail, despite being the only system to record a rise in weekly sales.

Weekly hardware sales (previous week):

PSP – 43,163 (47,875)
Wii - 36,149 (42,309)
DSi LL – 28,080 (34,863)
PS3 - 25,450 (34,431)
DSi - 19,116 (24,783)
DS Lite - 5,410 (6,811)
Xbox 360 - 3,651 (4,089)
PS2 - 2,047 (2,182)
PSPgo - 1,738 (1,645)
