Further speculation has surfaced regarding a full successor to the PSP2.
Rumours of a PSP successor began in December, with numerous news outlets reporting that developers are already working on software for the unnamed and unannounced device.
Just days later, Sony would back away from its no-comment stance and claim outright that “no plans for a PSP2 are underway”, and that such speculation came from a misinterpretation of Sony’s newly-announced policy of focusing developers away from Universal Media Discs and towards digital distribution.
Quoting several credible and anonymous sources, games site IGN claims to have learned that the PSP 2 “is indeed on the horizon.” The news site adds that “the PSP 2 will feature a widescreen multi-touch interface comparable to that of the iPhone for both in-game control and menu navigation.”

great. I'm in the market for a PSP. Lost interest in my DS after upgrading to iPhone 3G. I'm reluctant to get a current PSP as I'd rather wait to see if a new PSP is on the way. I definitely buy one if they do release a touch screen version. Lets hope the rumors are true
