Quantum Theory Delayed

The release of Tecmo Koeiís thirdperson shooter has been pushed from March ìto later in 2010î, the publisherís confirmed.

Quantum Theory’s March release has been pushed back to allow for “optimum development time”, publisher Tecmo Koei has told us.

“We can confirm that Quantum Theory has been moved to later in 2010,” the company’s European arm said in a statement. “We feel the game deserves optimum development time, and we aim to deliver the very best title we can. We are still thoroughly committed to Quantum Theory and this short delay can only make for a stronger, more entertaining game.”

Tecmo recently told us that the upcoming thirdperson shooter, due for release on PS3 and Xbox 360, is intended to provide a ‘third pillar’ for the company alongside the Dead Or Alive and Ninja Gaiden franchises.

When we saw the game for a feature article in the latest issue of Edge, the 70 per cent complete PS3 build we played needed a lot of polish. Enemy AI, for example, was patchy, while framerate was another concern. Still, the ideas were solid, and the scale of the game was sometimes giddying. Hopefully the extra development time will help Quantum Theory capture players in the same way as Gears Of War or Uncharted.
