Digital media firm RealNetworks has acquired casual games syndication company Trymedia from Macrovision.
RealNetworks said the deal essentially doubles the number of syndication partners with its casual business division, RealGames.
Trymedia's partners include AOL, Yahoo!, Telstra, IGN and T-Online, through which RealGames will be able to expand its reach and revenues.
RealNetworks, which is also responsible for the digital music service Rhapsody, the RealPlayer media player and the casual game destination RealArcade, has been seeking to capitalize on the casual game market with the recent acquisition of Game Trust and the establishment of a long-term partnership with The Spill Group.
The Trymedia acquisition is slated to close later this quarter. Financial details were not disclosed.
An earlier version of this story said Real acquired The Spill Group.
