Microsoft intends to release an improved version of Xbox 360 motion sensor Kinect that is so accurate it can lip-read, according to reports.
Sources close to Eurogamer claim that Kinect 2 will come bundled with future Xbox consoles. As well as lip-reading, the improved sensor will be able to detect players' emotional states by recognising facial expressions and tracking the pitch and volume of their voices.
The current Kinect is held back by its reliance on USB to pass data to the console. According to the source, Kinect 2 will not connect through USB and as such will be capable of much more.
The source said: "It can be cabled straight through on any number of technologies that just take phenomenally high-res data straight to the main processor and straight to the main RAM and ask, what do you want to do with it?"

9Bollocks.
Possibly, it depends how small they are.
This is just a repeat of all the gobshite Microsoft fed everyone when they unveiled the first Kinect. I would love to be proven wrong, but Microsoft don't have the best history on delivering on their promises. And that's excluding anything Molyneux has said!
Yeah, and Kinect ver. 1.0 can do Milo :p
haha, lip read. it can't even recognize what I'm saying half the time. is peter molyneux microsoft's new kinect spokesman? will it also read my mind and make me feel love?
I wish Kinect would just go to hell. I've enjoyed playing games on my Kinect-less 360 over the last few years, and if the next Xbox is sold with some form of Kinect bundled as standard then I won't be buying one. I can't be doing with all this motion sensing bollocks.
As much as I'm prepared to believe the Kinect 2 will be awesome (the first one absolutely is, I've worked with it), my opinion of this story is coloured by the fact that it comes from Eurogamer's abysmal Wesley Yin-Poole, who seems to base the majority of his stories on half-remembered conversations he had in the pub.
I've been caught out before, getting excited about some upcoming release, before realising that the game that's being 'exclusively' revealed doesn't exist in any way, shape or form, and probably never will.
Shame on you, Edge.
Why is Edge even rehashing tittle-tattle from other sites? If I wanted the worlds gaming bullshit amalgamated into one website, I'd go to N4G.
Edge used to be great in both paper and meta form, sadly now it too hard to sort the wheat from the chaff amongst it's articles...there's now a lot less food for thought, and a lot more lads-mag (un)inspired guff.
I mean, Alex Zane for fucks sake? What is he even doing in the same magazine as David Braben?
Even Randy Smith's articles are increasingly mundane and self-serving - his thoughts and writing style used to be worth the entry fee alone, its a real shame.
On location reporting is just so expensive and time consuming though, So this is why we get all the good stuff in the magazine and the scraps on here. A site like Gamespot for example, has the luxury of being everywhere and getting accurate and up to date information... most of the time, due to not having such a commitment as the Edge team do. Hey, if you guys need an extra pair of hands then let me know :))
