EA CEO John Riccitiello has confirmed the existence of a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game with a massively multiplayer component, according to an E3 report at Conde Nast’s Portfolio.com

According to the report, Riccitiello mentioned in the interview that the company’s one unannounced MMO, “in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare… is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it." When asked if he was talking about a Knights of the Old Republic game, Riccitiello reportedly said “yes”.

Riccitiello also discussed the importance of the direct-to-consumer business model in the interview, saying that EA will “be talking about it louder than most.” He also used the interview to discuss China’s opportunities as a growth market, mentioning that the publisher had several unannounced investment deals in the region.

If this had been announced at E3, it would have made the show!

If Sony is smart, they will lock up an exclusivity window.

Sony can´t, this is EA we are talking about. EA is all about multiplattform and specially considering that 360 has a bigger installed base and games to the 360 tend so sell like hot cakes, then outlook look not so good for this to happen..

But also, accroding to Jack Tretton, due to the high investment on PS3, they can´t really afford to pay so much money for this kinds of exclusives. And believe me, it would COST to snap this MMO as exclusive for PS3, even if its for a "limited time". Besides, having this exclusive for a limited would not do much good either, this is an MMO, a game that "lasts".. so it would not matter to make this time exclusive, as I see it.

Lastly, we don´t know yet which plattform this will be on, it might be a PC-only thing...

This may actually be the first MMO im interested in. Both Kotor1 and 2 are my favorite games of all time and I have spent waaay to many hours on these.
Even though I would prefer a Kotor3 in the same vein as the predecessors, meaning offline-singleplayer games, an MMO in this world is interesting.
