NBC Universal's rumored plan to acquire a major stake in Tomb Raider house SCi would have the media giant shelling out £50 million ($100 million) for the UK game maker, a new report said Friday.

Financial Times said that NBC Universal is "close to finalizing" the deal, which could help the struggling publisher get back on its feet following mass layoffs and game cancellations and delays.
The report said that Time Warner, which currently holds a 10 percent stake in SCi, may also be increasing its stake in the game publisher.
Deals with either Time Warner or NBC could be finalized in the "next few weeks," the report claimed.
"A deal with Time Warner or NBC Universal could be a precursor to a full takeover of the company in due course, but this is not currently under discussion," wrote Financial Times reporter Maija Palmer.
