Age of Conan developer Funcom has confirmed to MMO site TenTonHammer.com that it has made unspecified cuts to its U.S. workforce.

"We did have some staffing cuts at Funcom this week as well as new positions opening in the organization as part of our ongoing cost based efficiency and performance initiatives that are vital to any business," read the statement.

Multiple attempts to contact Funcom for more information were unsuccessful.

Funcom's latest title was Age of Conan for PC, an MMO that launched in May 2008. An Xbox 360 version is due sometime in the future.

News of the layoffs follows the September departure of Age of Conan director Gaute Godager, who said on his resignation, "I have done my very best making this fabulous game, but I have concluded there are elements which I am dissatisfied with. I have decided to act on this, and as a result I have chosen to leave Funcom."
