Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 has almost certainly sold five million copies since its mid-March release.

The latest title in the survival horror series sold 4.4 million units across Xbox 360 and PS3 during March and an additional 570,000 copies in April, according to Capcom’s chief financial officer, Kazuhiko Abe.

With Abe telling Reuters that the publisher is still enjoying “very strong demand” for the game, it is thought that Resident Evil 5 has since comfortably sold the 30,000 copies required to push it past the five million mark.

Capcom said recently that the Resident Evil series is its bestselling franchise of all time, having shifted over 40 million units down the years.

During the same Reuters event, Abe said that Capcom plans to launch ten iPhone titles during the current business year ending in March 2010.

i played this for half an hour, and will never play it again. my personal opinion (leaving others free for theirs) is i really dont think it deserves that many sales, when compared to killzone 2 which has only sold over 1million but is a lot better in my opinion i think is crazy. o well i understand being a fan of a game, like prince of persia i loved the trilogy on ps2 but this new one wat a pile of rubbish, talk about doing the same old thing 22 times lol.
ps. uncharted 2 this year will rock all the games ever!!!!!! :) peace!

What's in a name? Sales.
What's in the game? Nothing worthwhile or innovative .

Completely undeserved. New direction for the series - a direction no one seems to like yet the message these figures are sending Capcom is "we love it, more of the same please."

gash.

It doesn't sdeserve the success i feel. Res 4 is one of the greatest games of all time, res 5 was a mess full of bad design decisions. Dead space was better than res 5 in every respect.
