Resident Evil 5 Tops Japanese Chart

Gold Edition reignites sales of CapcomĂ­s title, while Heavy Rain makes its chart debut.

The PS3 version of Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition topped the Japanese software chart during the week ended February 21.

Featuring Resident Evil 5 and the game’s subsequently released DLC packs, the title sold 143,000 copies to head the rankings.

Having topped the chart for the previous two weeks, God Eater fell one spot to second, ahead of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms Of Reverie moved down two places to fourth, while Friend Collection was a non-mover in fifth, reports el33tonline.

Two other new entries made the top ten. Sony’s PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain shifted 27,000 copies to take sixth place, while Konami’s Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2010: Reverse Of Arcadia for DS moved 24,000 units to finish eighth.

On the hardware front, Sony and Nintendo platforms tussled for the top spots as PS3 enjoyed a weekly sales boost.
