Ninety percent of "tweens" and teens expect to ask for a videogame this holiday, according to a survey from specialty retailer GameCrazy.

In the Holiday Gift Tracker Survey, conducted by Weekly Reader Research, the retailer found that among boys and girls aged 8-17 years, music games were high on the list:

  • Guitar Hero World Tour: 17 percent
  • Rock Band II: 15 percent
  • Mario Kart: 12 percent
  • Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party II: 11 percent

The online survey of 965 respondents found that among girls 8-17, DDR Hottest Party II, Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 were hot items.

Boys' most wanted games weren't much different, with Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band 2, Mario Kart and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed high on the list.

Among both girls and boys aged 8-17, the Wii, DS and PS2 were the most-owned consoles.

Weekly Reader Research polled the respondents August 17-31.

this is a survey of 965 people...... how many kids live in america? What is the margin of error on this? How did they choose these participants? It's a survey from GameCrazy, so of course any numbers they will skew towards games. I am not saying they are wrong, but more details would be nice.
