L.A. Noire is in development by Sydney, Australia-based Team Bondi. Founded in 2003, the studio has experience with the big crime in a big city premise, as the founder is Brendan McNamara, who was the director for The Getaway on PS2 when he was with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Team Soho.
McNamara will be acting as director of development for L.A. Noire, while Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser will be executive producer for the game, which is described as "open-ended."
"Brendan and I have known each other for a long time, and to finally have the opportunity to work together on a game is exciting,” said Houser. “The longstanding mutual respect and the combined experience between the two of us make this a great partnership.”
Team Bondi is currently comprised of 80 people, according to the company website, and it is currently hiring for positions including 3D rendering and car modeler, senior gameplay programmer and 3D animators, among other positions.
The companies didn’t state which next generation platforms the game will be coming to in this most recent announcement, although when L.A. Noire was originally unveiled in 2005, it was to be a PS3 exclusive title. That exclusivity may be scratched at this point in time. Next-Gen has contacted Rockstar and Team Bondi for clarification and we'll update accordingly.
No release date has been announced.
