Rovio acquires Futuremark Games Studio

Angry Birds developer Rovio Entertainment has acquired Futuremark Games Studio.

Rovio has added the game development division of the Finnish benchmark software creator so that it can make more games, while also allowing Futuremark to concentrate on its benchmarking business.

“They are an incredibly talented and experienced team, and we are thrilled to have them on board,” Rovio chief executive Mikael Hed said.

“Rovio’s success is founded on the excellence of our team, and Futuremark Games Studio is going to be a superb addition.”

Rovio, which has just released Angry Birds Space, also acquired Kombo Animation Studio last June. Rovio hasn't disclosed what it paid for the Futuremark studio.
