Rumoured Sony and Gaikai deal centred around backwards compatibility
Further information has come to light regarding the rumoured deal between Sony and David Perry's cloud gaming company Gaikai.
Sources have told Gamesindustry.biz that the deal will see PlayStation and PS2 titles made available to stream via the company's PlayStation 3 console.
Even if the deal is real, it's still unclear how far it would extend and whether Sony's other devices, such as PlayStation Vita, TVs and tablets.
The current iteration of the PS3 cannot play PS2 discs – though some titles are available to download via PSN.
The market has been proven, too, with the release of HD collections including Team Ico's output the God Of War and Devil May Cry series.
If true, it will be excellent news for developers looking to monetise their back catalogues.
