SCi Unloads Spanish Distribution Biz

Tomb Raider house sells Proein to Koch Media.

SCi Entertainment, parent company to Tomb Raider publisher Eidos, said Wednesday that it reached an agreement earlier this week to sell its Spanish distribution business, Proein, to Koch Media of Austria.

SCi subsequently entered an agreement with Proein and Koch to distribute games in Spain.

SCi has made it a point to trim the fat from its struggling business. SCi said this week that it expects a fiscal year loss of £100 Million ($200 million) driven by restructuring costs.

SCi CEO Phil Rogers said, "Selling the Proein business is in line with our declared strategy to have a lean and efficient approach to distribution to support our product focused, studio-led business model.

"Proein has a history of building business with Eidos and other publishers and we look forward to working with them as our distribution partner in the future."

According to SCi, Proein's gross assets as of the end of June 2008 were 8.6 million euros.
