Scott Henson Appointed Studio Manager Of Rare
Microsoft veteran takes the reins on the UK developer with a commitment to Kinect titles.
Scott Henson, former product unit manager at Microsoft’s game technology group, has been made studio manager of first-party developer and subsidiary Rare.
Henson will replace Mark Betteridge, who will continue to work at the company in a more creative role. We interviewed Betteridge as part of our celebration of the studio which you can read here.
Henson, who will relocate from the US for the role, told Gamesindustry.biz: "The role Microsoft Game Studios has as first-party innovator is to push the boundaries of the platform forward, to create great new experiences that will delight millions of customers. Rare will lead the charge on that, and Kinect will be a big part of that future.”
Rare’s most recent project is the Kinect launch title, Kinect Sports. Henson says his experience with the Xbox brand makes him a perfect fit for the studio: "How I envision Rare, is that they’ll continue to innovate, continue to partner with folks like the Platform team – that’s part of my heritage – and continue to bring those experiences to life. When I look at what they’ve accomplished in that domain, I see a very bright future.
"I think we’re very strongly positioned around Kinect Sports, so we’ll just build on that success."
