Sega: Yakuza 3 Sales "Were Really Positive"

Sega pleased with sales of late-releasing action game

Weary of Yakuza 2's poor sales in the west, Sega was understandably hesitant to release Yakuza 3 outside of Japan. But after much fanfare it eventually did, and seems happy with its reception.

Posting on the game's official forums, a Sega rep said: "As was mentioned a couple times above, Sega doesn't generally release any specific numbers in terms of game sales. So, while I'm not able to give you any numbers, I can at least still confirm that the initial sales were really positive, and that all of the fans who jumped in to support the franchise in the west did a great job."

This should hopefully mean Sega will be more likely to release more Yakuza games to its western fans.Yakuza 4, or Ryu Ga Gotoku 4, was recently released in Japan and'Kurohyu: Ryu ga Gotoku Shinshou' (which translates to something like 'Black Leopard: A New Yakuza Chapter') is on its way to PSP.
