Sims 3, Dragon Age PC, Godfather 2 Delayed

Delays mean revenues will miss this fiscal year.

Prior to announcing fiscal Q3 earnings, EA on Tuesday announced the delay of The Sims 3, Godfather 2 and Dragon Age for PC, leaving no hope for the titles to make the current fiscal year, which ends in March.

EA said The Sims 3, previously slated for release this month, is now due to ship on June 2 for PC. Other versions will launch this summer.

EA marketing VP Russell Arons said in a statement, "The June launch combined with the break-through game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3

"The Sims 3 will be the original IP summer blockbuster of 2009..."

EA also announced the delay of another highly anticipated title, the PC version of BioWare's upcoming RPG Dragon Age. The publisher moved the game's release from early 2009 to the latter half of the year.

The PC version's launch will now coincide with the launch of the console versions of the game, EA said.

In a statement, BioWare CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka said, "Dragon Age: Origins is shaping up to be quite amazing in its level of quality and polish.

"I'm really proud of our team, who are working very hard to make Dragon Age: Origins the biggest and most exciting BioWare game yet, and we will work to ensure it not only meets, but exceeds the expectations of our loyal audience of fans."

There's no word yet on a release window for the open world game Godfather 2.

UPDATE: Added Godfather 2 delay.
