Skyrim Creation Kit released

Bethesda has released the Creation Kit, a suite of modding tools for the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, along with a high-res texture pack.

The Creation Kit lets players create, share and download user-generated content through the Steam Workshop. Bethesda will be releasing a series of tutorial videos, the first of which is below, to help modders of all levels.

The high-res texture pack is recommended only to those whose PC specs exceed Skyrim's minimum requirements of 4GB of system RAM, and a DX 9.0c-compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card with at least 1GB of RAM running the latest drivers.

To celebrate the release, Skyrim is currently available on Steam for £23.29, 33 per cent off the usual price. It's great stuff, obviously, but not if you're a PS3 player waiting for the game's long-standing framerate issues to be fixed. Bethesda said it was planning on submitting patches for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game for certification last week, but is yet to officially confirm that it has done so.
