Sony’s John Koller has said that the company is examining the possibility of bringing the PlayStation Store to PSP, which would mean that users wishing to download content to the handheld wouldn’t require a PS3 or PC to do so.

"Having a native store on the portable is something we're looking into," Koller told Pocket Gamer.

Until the launch of the PlayStation Store for PC (pictured) in November 2007, PSP owners required a PS3 in order to access the PlayStation Store to download games, demos, themes and videos.

On Monday at its E3 press conference Sony announced the launch of the PlayStation Network video download store, which enables PS3 owners to download full-length movies to their systems. The films can then be transferred to PSP via PS3 or a PC for viewing on the go, but a native PSP store still remains high on many PSP owners’ wanted list.
