Sony Announces New PS3 Music Service

Cloud-based digital music service coming to Sonyís network-enabled devices.

Sony has announced that a new cloud-based digital music service is in the works for the company’s network-enabled devices, including PS3, Bravia TVs, VAIO computers and Blu-ray players.

Music Unlimited will give users access to millions of songs, with one single account and without the need to manage digital files, the company said at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin.

Further details, including when and where Music Unlimited will be available, “will be announced soon”, the firm said in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

“We are excited to offer our customers high quality, cloud-based entertainment experiences across many of Sony’s network-enabled devices,” said Kaz Hirai, president of Sony’s Networked Products & Services Group. “Services ‘powered by Qriocity’ will revolutionise the way that users play, listen, watch, share, communicate, learn, discover and create their digital entertainment content.”
