Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced plans to cut the price of the PSP-3000 by 15 per cent to 16,800 yen ($185) from October 1.

The handheld's new price point will match that of Nintendo’s DS and be 2,100 yen ($23) cheaper than the DSi, reports GameSpot.

While the new UMD-free PSPgo is to launch in Europe and the US on October 1, it won’t release in Japan until November 1.

The DS will always outshine the PSP no matter how deep the price cut.

Sorry to harp on about it as I've mentioned this in a previous thread, but look where that joystick is, just look. I can't use that!

Why the hell don't they lower the D-pad and put the stick ABOVE it. That way, I can get the ball of my thumb and a lot more of my palm onto the machine for a more comfortable grip. Something I could really grab and get stuck into - not hold with pincers.

Do that and put another stick at the same height on the other side and you have a strong contender for the best handheld EVER!
