Sony, Future US Unveil PSN Gaming Program

Qore, which will be produced and published by SCEA under an exclusive development agreement with Next-Gen and PlayStation: The Official Magazine publisher Future US, will feature exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scenes looks at PlayStation games, in addition to special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.

 

Qore will not be free of charge. Accessible via the PSN’s PlayStation Store, it will be purchasable like any other form of downloadable content. The introductory price for Qore is $2.99 for a single episode and $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes.

 

The premier episode, hosted by presenter Veronica Belmont, will be available this Thursday, June 5. SCEA says it will include exclusive and never-before released content on upcoming titles such as SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals Confrontation, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Secret Agent Clank, Soul Calibur 4 and Afro Samurai. It will also feature the latest Blu-ray trailers, an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme, an invitation to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta and art galleries.

 

As part of its Qore announcement Sony also confirmed that “broader service and community initiatives” such as PlayStation Home and a Video Download Service will be “launching on the PlayStation Network this year.”

 

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has informed Next-Gen that it is currently in discussions with media partners about broadening its digital content offerings for PAL territory PS3 owners.

 

"SCEE are constantly looking at ways in which we can offer the best digital content to PS3 owners and PSN subscribers. With this in mind, we're currently in discussion with media partners, including Future plc., to explore a variety of options."
