Sony Computer Entertainment Of America has filed new patents with the US Patent And Trademark Office which back up rumours regarding a new PSP handheld device.
Of several patents filed in October, which include diagrams, one references a “handheld device with two-finger touch triggered selection” and all of the documents are linked by the statement that any forthcoming device will have two screens: “Comprising: a case having first and second major surfaces; a visual display disposed on the first major surface; a touch interface disposed on at least one of the major surfaces”.
News of the applications follow claims by VG247 that images of a PSP2 devkit reveal a rear-mounted track-pad. There were also rumours this month that Sony Ericsson is developing a gaming smartphone.
