At the company’s E3 press conference Tuesday, Sony made several changes to its PS3 pricing structure. This primarily included bringing the Greatest Hits line of value software to the console.

The Greatest Hits PS3 line will retail for $29.99 and includes software from both first and third parties. Titles currently announced for the lineup include Motorstorm, Resistance, Warhawk, Call of Duty 3, Fight Night Round 3, Need for Speed: Carbon, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Assassin’s Creed, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

Also brought up at the Sony conference was a new 80GB PS3 model, which will retail at $399.  The “80GB Core Pack” will be available in September, replacing the current 40GB Core Pack. Beyond the increased capacity it was stated that this new SKU will feature similar functionality to the 40GB model. The current 40GB model differs from other PS3 versions in that it lacks PS2 backwards compatibility, does not have a flash card reader and has two USB ports as opposed to four.
