Sony takes PSN offline as Battlefield 3 beta launches
Sony has presented those looking forward to today's launch of the Battlefield 3 multiplayer beta with a major headache by announcing that PSN will be down for maintenance this evening.
In a post on the PlayStation community forums, Sony confirms that PSN will be offline between 5pm and 7pm BST. During that time, the PlayStation Store, account registration and account management will all be unavailable. Those who sign in before 5pm, however, will be unaffected.
Yet that is unlikely to appease those who have been eagerly awaited the day Battlefield 3's multiplayer beta opens to the public. It has been available for two days to those who pre-ordered through Origin or bought the limited edition of last year's Medal Of Honor.
The beta test will run until October 10, with the full game to be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 28.
