PSN, Sony’s digital marketplace, is to receive an overhaul this month which aims to address criticisms levelled at the service by users. The new look uses a darker palette and more of the available screen estate to pack in content. There’s also a new storefront, of course, that has been designed to better promote new games, movies and TV content.
The whole thing now works on a “carousel” design, scrolling from left to right and more closely aping the PlayStation 3’s XMB (or, indeed, XBLA). In addition, there’s now smart searching – and content filtering – and Sony aims to improve search performance over the coming months.
The redesigned store will be rolled out across PAL regions on October 17, with a US launch planned for October 23.
