Not even a DRM controversy could stop Spore from rapidly hitting the platinum mark.
Will Wright and Maxis' ambitious evolutionary title Spore has sold through 1 million copies since it launched on September 7, the company announced Wednesday.
"Spore is a hit," proclaimed EA Games label president Frank Gibeau. He claimed the game has reached casual and core gamers alike, adding, "We're off to a great start moving into the holiday season and believe Spore will deliver a platform of creativity for gamers of all stripes for years to come."
Over 25 million creations have been uploaded to the user-generated "Sporepedia," EA said.
The PC game has earned an 85 percent on reviews aggregator Metacritic, falling in line with EA's goal of having an average of at least 80 percent across its portfolio.
