Square Enix saw its share price drop to a five-year low yesterday after the company decided to postpone its quarterly earnings announcements.
Stock fell as far as 11 percent to ¥1,936 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, marking the company’s lowest position since June 2003.
The reason for the one-week postponement, as cited by news blog Kotaku, was due to a delay in “accounting work”. Speculation is now surfacing that the publisher will announce a release date delay for one of its key games, with titles such as Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII already being tipped as prime candidates. Any such delay has not been announced nor suggested by the publisher.
Square Enix will now make its earnings call on Feb 12.

I predict that Square Enix will someday announce Final Fantasy XIV for the Wii.
Here's hoping their Microsoft money is enough to offset the earnings they would have had this year if they weren't delaying the PS3 FF13 until next year. If not, they made a bad deal.
