Square Enix Shares Rise on FFXIII Xbox 360 Reveal

Shares in the publisher jump the most in more than a month after FFXIII goes mulitplatform.

Square Enix shares gained 5.2 percent, the biggest advance since May 22, to close at 3,250 yen on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, after the Japanese firm said that Final Fantasy XIII would be released on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 as well as Sony’s PS3, Bloomberg reports.

The announcement that the title will no longer be exclusive to PS3 in Europe and the US came at the end of Microsoft’s E3 press conference.

“Releasing an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will allow us to provide the game to even more fans in the two regions of North America and Europe," said Square Enix president Yoichi Wada. "We are currently working hard on these two versions".

A release date for the title has not yet been announced.
