Capcom has confirmed that Street Fighter IV – which made its arcade debut back in 2008, and was released for iOS early last year – is headed to Android devices.
A deal with LG means the game will be exclusive to the company's smartphones for the first three months, and the release has been timed to coincide with the release of LG's upcoming HD handsets.
LG president and CEO Dr Jong-seok Park said: "As we prepare our first HD smartphone for launch, it was important for us to offer HD content that would really demonstrate this phone's benefits. The HD version of Street Fighter certainly fills this objective."
Capcom has this afternoon confirmed to us that the Android release will be the original Street Fighter IV rather than any of the subsequent console or arcade revisions, or Street Fighter IV: Volt, the update which added new characters and online multiplayer and was released for iOS in late June. That means the original game's balancing, rather than the fine-tuning present in Super Street Fighter IV and Arcade Edition – which is great news for Sagat players.
