The Wii game beat out fellow best game nominees Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Fable II, Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto IV and Rock Band.
Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4 won the most awards with three honors in the "Gameplay," "Story and Character" and public-voted "GAME Award."
Over 60K people placed their votes for the GAME Award.
Older games released in late 2007 such as Call of Duty 4 and Super Mario Galaxy were eligible due to a scheduling change that nixed the videogame BAFTA awards in 2008.
