The GAME British Academy of Film and Television Arts awarded Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy with "Best Game" honors Tuesday night in London.

The Wii game beat out fellow best game nominees Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Fable II, Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto IV and Rock Band.

Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4 won the most awards with three honors in the "Gameplay," "Story and Character" and public-voted "GAME Award."

'Story and Character' was awarded to CoD 4? Strange choice, I think, considering GTA IV was eligible. I would have thought, considering this is a BAFTA, that they would have chosen the more characteristically complex Rockstar game than Infinity Ward's rote nuclear threat plot.

Good choices.... I knew Braid was overrated.

It's nice to see a big award for mario galaxy. I can definitely say it's the game I had most fun playing over the last year or so.

I am surprised not to see fallout 3 anywhere here, maybe story and character, or something..

Fallout was an OK game. But a step back for Bethesda when compared to Oblivion. I'm glad it is not doing as well at the awards as Oblivion did.

I'm glad to see Dead Space pick up a few awards. Kudos.

Agreed Dead Space is such a good game, kudos to EA on this one.

Do you remember a time when EA was a 'threat to the industry'? I believe even EDGE did an article about how EA was killing off innovation and new IP with its iterative cashing in.
What gives EA?

Yeah I remember, now that crown is firmly on the head of Acti-Bliz. *spits*

Didn't you hear, they're prepared to take "selective risks"?
