Super Mario Galaxy Wins "Best Game" at BAFTAs

The GAME British Academy of Film and Television Arts awarded Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy with "Best Game" honors Tuesday night in London.

The Wii game beat out fellow best game nominees Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Fable II, Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto IV and Rock Band.

Activision and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 4 won the most awards with three honors in the "Gameplay," "Story and Character" and public-voted "GAME Award."

Over 60K people placed their votes for the GAME Award.

Older games released in late 2007 such as Call of Duty 4 and Super Mario Galaxy were eligible due to a scheduling change that nixed the videogame BAFTA awards in 2008.
