THQ's recent multiplatform release, Darksiders, has been banned from going on sale in the United Arab Emirates.

An official explanation on why the game has been banned in the region has not been released as such material is generally filed under “contradicts with UAE’s customs and traditions,” reports GamesLatest.

It is expected that the knock on effect of the decision will mean that the title could also be banned in other Gulf countries.

In 2006 publisher THQ acquired Vigil Games, the developer of Darksiders.

Having been born and lived most my life in Kuwait I can tell you first hand that in the Gulf countries games work a little bit differently than in the States and other places. This game will be sold there I'm sure of it as most game sellers own their stores and it's not like going into a Gamestop or Walmart. Police are not going to go to every one of these small stores and fine them for selling these games. That's why most games are almost always sold early than release date as the store owners don't really care about release dates lol.

Such is the way of all games in countries they are supposedly banned in. A big hurray for civil disobedience around the world.
