THQ president Brian Farrell referred to Sony’s motion controller as the ‘PlayStation Arc’ multiple times during today’s investor conference call.
"We are focused on our continued leadership in [casual games], taking advantage of the lower hardware price points that we expect will attract new mass market gamers, and new family-friendly platforms such as Microsoft's Natal and the PlayStation Arc motion controller," he was quoted as saying (thanks Joystiq).
Rumours of the new Sony technology being called ‘Arc’ appeared online a few weeks ago, with Sony saying that it wouldn’t “comment on rumour or speculation” when contacted about the report.
EA CEO John Riccitiello had previously referred to the PS3 motion controller a 'Gem'.
Earlier this month Sony announced that the release of its PS3 motion sensing controller had been pushed back from spring to fall 2010.
The company said that it “will vigorously promote the Motion Controller as the de facto controller of the PS3 platform”, and that the peripheral will launch in all PlayStation territories “with an extensive line-up of exciting software titles”.
